The inventor of the drive in movie was Richard M. Hollingshead Jr. the first drive in was built in 1933 but did not become popular until 1948, right before the early 1950's. With a screen thirty three meters wide and cars being able to park behind one another, enables several cars to enjoy a good ole' classic at a time.

Many commercials would occur during broadcasts of popular television shows. Advertisements took place too, and stated for TV shows what day(s), time, and channel it took place. Just like the advertisment below.

The television was invented in 1946 and ever since then, it had become apart of the family. During this time period the television had certain programs on at certain times. When the program was over your TV would turn off. There were no re-runs at one in the morning.

The look and sound of the 50's
slang of the 50'sAlong with the music and movies of the fifties, there was the slang. The most popular phrases were things like "Daddy-O," which is how guys would address one another,"Air-Check," which is what they called a recording of a television performance, and "18-Karat," which is what someone would say when someone would be the type to go all out on many things. Toys of the decade
Children were offered a much wilder range of toys following the baby boom, but toys were very much gender designed with dolls, prams dressmaking toys for girls and cowboys and indians, cars and construction sets for boys.
